V for Vendetta Pictures

Alan Moore’s masterpiece hits the big screen on March 17, 2006. Hopefully the movie will stay true to the comic. If it does, it’ll make The Matrix look like The Dukes of Hazzard… yes, V for Vendetta is that good. It has to be good if Natalie Portman shaved her head for it. Go here to see the trailers and check out these amazing posters for the movie.

Ali G May be Sued by Kazakhstan

Ali G Borat Pictures

Turns out Kazakhstan is an actual country and it`s threatening to sue Sacha Baron Cohen. Cohen, who plays Borat the Kazakh journalist among other characters on Da Ali G Show, has pissed off Kazakhstan with his characters antics.

“We do not rule out that Mr. Cohen is serving someone’s political order designed to present Kazakhstan and its people in a derogatory way,” Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Yerzhan Ashykbayev told a news briefing. “We reserve the right to any legal action to prevent new pranks of the kind.”
Check out Borats hilarious response at: http://www.borat.kz/

Update:
Looks like the Kazakh`s have shut down Borat’s site.
“We’ve done this so he can’t badmouth Kazakhstan under the .kz domain name,” Nurlan Isin, President of the Association of Kazakh IT Companies, told Reuters. “He can go and do whatever he wants at other domains.”

Update: … and he has. Borat’s new site is here.

Best of 2005: WE3

WE3

WE3 is the story of three household pets (a dog, a cat and a rabbit) stolen from their homes by the U.S. Military and turned into cyborg assassins. The three animals escape before being “decommissioned” and head for their original homes with the military in hot pursuit.
Grant Morrison has written a story that will punch your gut and break your heart. The comic grabs you right from the beginning and takes you on one hell of a ride. Morrison at his best.
Frank Quitely is one of the best artists in the industry and with this book, he solidifies himself as the best action sequence artist. I’ve never seen action scenes jump off the page like this and I guarantee you’ve never seen body parts get blown to bits with this much detail.

Hands down the most entertaining, moving and inventive comic of 2005.

Update: WE3 is heading to the big screen! New Line Cinema has just aquired the rights to adapt the comic. Grant Morrison is writing the script and has already finished the first draft. Sweet!
