Superman Returns Makes Less Than Expected
Monday, July 3rd, 2006Superman Returns made $52.12 million over the weekend bringing its five-day total $84.2 million, much less than everyone expected. When you compare it to Spider-Man 2’s five-day opening take at $152.4 million, it definitely didn’t do what the studio hoped it would. And it looks like next weekend won’t be kind to Superman neither, with the release of Pirates of The Caribbean 2.

It may not have done amazing but I think that the film has staying power. While it may not make it to #1 again, I think in the long run it will do ok.
Man, you’re being too hard on the film. You’re entitled to your opinions but plot points that are not featured in the trailer are not reasons people didn’t go see the movie. That will come into play in the second week but not the first. We will see staying power and a healthy amount of international revenue. this will not be a flop. Remember how terrible the Hulk was? itr still made $245,284,946 worldwide.
I thought Superman Returns was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Was anything ever explained?
it left me a bit confused. but he’s a much more believable superhero. even if he’s an alien. he’s still more super than spidey.
“Superman Returns” was pretty good, but I’m not surprised it only made half the money “Spidey 2″ made considering “Spidey 2″ is a far greater film.
