David Blaine’s latest stunt (is he even considered as magician anymore?) got underway yesterday in Times Square.

The 33-year-old magician stepped inside a gyroscope Tuesday in Times Square. His hands and feet will be shackled to the spinning scope Thursday afternoon. He will then have until Friday morning — a total of 16 hours — to make his escape.

If he’s successful, Blaine will lead 100 children selected by The Salvation Army on a shopping expedition at Target. Each child will receive a $500 gift certificate from the retailer. (Source)

Why is he even doing this? I wouldn’t even call this a stunt. It’s definitely not a magic trick. The guy’s just swinging! Oh well, at least he’s helping out the kids, I’ll give him that. Although I’m pretty sure they’d rather see him do a few card tricks. Click here to see the video of Blaine swinging in the gyroscope.
