No More Borat!?
January 18th, 2007
Sacha Baron Cohen has hinted that his days going undercover as Borat are over. Here’s an excerpt from an interview he did with a US radio station:
“I think it will probably be impossible to do Borat again. There are a number of things that are in development. The next thing will probably be a scripted comedy. I think the days of me going undercover are probably over.”
Sad news but it was to be expected. By now everyone and their granny knows about Borat. Heck, even people in Kazakhstan know all about Cohen and his character. He doesn’t really have much of a choice. So how funny will Sacha Baron Cohen be in a regular scripted movie? Hopefully he’ll be a lot funnier than he was in Ali G: In Da House.

What on earth are you talking about? The movie was very funny! If you really liked Borat i don’t get why you wouldn’t like AliG in da house.

It’ll be quite hard for him to top Borat, but let’s see what he’ll come up with.

Ali G in Da House was actually terrible, whereas Borat was class. The two were completely different.

Well, heh’s supposed to be doing a movie as his other alter-ego, Bruno the German fashionista. He’s completely unrecognizable as Bruno (I mean, no one would confuse him with Borat or Ali G), so maybe he still has one “undercover” persona to use before he’s through with them.
