Stephen King’s 1408 Trailer
January 31st, 2007What’s this? A Stephen King movie that actually looks promising? Well, they all look promising up until about three quarters in, but 1408 looks like it’s going to be a pretty good mind-screw. And Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack rarely disappoint. I just hope we don’t get one of those “lets hold hands to vanquish the evil spirits” endings.

That looks GOOD! I don’t go see scary movies, but that one I will go see.

Unlike other Stephen King-based movies (with the exception of “The Shining”) THIS ONE REALLY LOOKS PROMISING! In addition, back when they announced the making of this film, I discovered that the Stephen King story is loosely inspired by a real person and his research into a hotel haunting. I have encountered several dozen people in chatrooms who informed me that King apparently told a fan while he was autographing a copy of “Everything’s Eventual”, that he got the idea for “1408″ back in the early 1990’s from several news stories about a Parapsychologist named, Christopher Chacon, who was scientifically investigating a violent haunting taking place in a room at the world-famous Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California. That real-life investigation apparently sparked his imagination to tell this twisted tale. KUDOS TO KING for not only writing yet another awesome story, but having the brilliance to inspire it on something based in reality! Makes it just more TERRIFYING!!!
