Supermodel PETRA NEMCOVA fear of depleting fish stocks has turned her into a vegan. The Czech model has stopped eating fish for fear they will die out - and has abandoned animal products as a result.

She tells Britain’s Closer magazine, “I recently became vegan because I’m going green and not eating fish. “They say if we keep fishing like we are, there will be no more fish left.”

Ya, I know what you’re thinking; I cracked up as well when I read the story, but Petra Nemcova is just too hot to be made fun of. I mean, look at her… she could start a campaign to save the toothpick for all I care.

  1. Matt Says:

Actually, its true. The earth’s oceans are expected to be fish-free by the middle of this century. Good for her!

  2. chelsea Says:

Well…what is there to make fun of? We are depleting our natural resources, including our fisheries. She’s right. We don’t all need to become vegans to solve that problem, but I find it admirable that she has chosen to do so.

  3. LameyAmy Says:

Petra is right. Our seas are being badly overfished, and it’s true - fish could become extinct. So take a second and realize just because she’s a model doesn’t mean she’s automatically unintelligent. She obviously is actually looking at whats going on with our environment.

Before you make fun of someone, you should do a little research yourself. Shows how little people know about our global problems.

Let’s see, global warming, species dying out, sun spots, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc… THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLINMG! Maybe I’ll just stay in bed. After I have a tuna sandwich……

  5. Clementines Says:

If we don’t eat fish, then what good is it to save them?

  6. jenna Says:

right! like giving up the three fish she eats a year will make any difference (+ lately she’s kind of bloated - someone’s been munching on chocolate rather than fish)..blah..why is she EVERYWHERE lately?? very annoying..

  7. Samantha Says:

    Clementines-

If people lay off fish for a while then their populations should recover and fish loving people will be able to enjoy them again, in a sustainable way.

  8. Kim Says:

Someone said we dont all need to become vegans to help. Its a pity a lot more people dont become vegan. The food industry with its meat dairy and animal by products( which are in 90% of products in supermarkets i guess) like gelling agents, emulsifiers etc are all obtained from animals that were tortured for months and months. Free range eggs are not free range.
Vegans are i guess in majority vegans because of how badly animals are treated.
We get all our nutrients from non animal sources.
Vegans eat yummy things too and its better for the environment.
