Here’s the first official shot of Cobra Commander (creepy dude on the left) in the new Japanese trailer of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Ok, so he doesn’t exactly look like the Cobra Commander we all remember from the cartoon, but don’t fret; he’s known as “The Doctor” in the flick, and he eventually becomes the infamous Cobra Commander… at least I hope he does. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hits theatres August 7th, 2009.

In the film there are three phases of his transformation into Cobra Commander. The trailer is probably showing one of the early stages, and not the final incarnation. Just like the trailer doesn’t show Eccleston’s transformation into Destro.
