Inglourious Basterds Teaser Trailer
February 12th, 2009Let me just start off by saying that Quentin Tarantino is by far my favorite filmmaker, but his last movie, Death Proof, really, really, really let me down. Not only did I hate it, but I also thought it was one of the worst movies of 2007… so he has a lot of making up to do.
Unfortunately, judging by the trailer, Inglourious Basterds doesn’t look like it’s going to be that movie.
You guys know that I think Brad Pitt is an extremely overrated actor, and I know the role calls for being over the top, but his performance in the trailer is cringe worthy. And why the hell cast Eli Roth in the movie? He’s not an actor. Hell, he’s barely a director. And what’s with the rest of the no-names actors that make up the group? I remember hearing rumours that Adam Sandler and Simon Pegg would be in the movie, but we end up with that useless guy from the Office. I know it’s just a teaser trailer, and I could be wrong, but so far I’m not impressed at all. Inglourious Basterds hits theatres August 21st 2009.

I am in no way trying to be rude, but DUDE, you totally aren’t getting the point of what Quentin is going for. Have you read the script? I have and have also read interviews with him where he says flat out that the point was to hire actors not typically known as “action” stars (other than Pitt), so that when you see the movie, you will never see them in the same light again. The guy from the Office, the guy from Freeks and Geeks (Sam Levine) who is like 4 ft. tall, Etc.
I agree with you on Eli Roth as an actor, he isn’t, but I love the grin he has in this teaser when he is about to hit the german with the bat.

I liked Death Proof-Kurt Russell was great.
However, that’s not to say that it didn’t have problems; the pacing was awkward, the movie took way too long to hit it’s stride, and by the time it did, it was over.
I think it would’ve helped Death Proof immensely if it didn’t fill so much of the screen time with pointless, inane chatter and Tarantino-quips.

@ chris
I’m not trying to be rude either, but please read carefully what I wrote. I never said that I wanted to see famous action stars in the movie. I said that I would have liked to have seen well-known actors cast as the “basterds” instead of these nobodies. Well-known actors such as Adam Sandler and Simon Pegg, who were rumoured to be up for the roles.

Damn, this looks horrible. Planet Terror was way better then Death Proof.
Also, Mike Myers is in this movie, look on IMDB. Maybe Robert Rodriguez should have directed this.

You have terrible taste in movies if you thought Death Proof was bad.
